Can I take my mortgage with me when I move?

Often yes – it’s called porting. Whether it’s the right move depends on your current rate and the new borrowing you need. I’ll run both options for you.

What if I need to borrow more when I move?

Your current lender may lend the extra on a separate deal alongside the one you port, but the rates and end dates can differ. I’ll compare that with a completely new mortgage so you can see which works out better.

Is consolidating debt into my mortgage a good idea?

It can reduce your monthly outgoings, but you may pay more interest over time and your home secures the debt. I’ll always show you the full picture before you decide.

What costs are involved in moving home?

Stamp duty, legal fees, surveys, moving costs and possibly early repayment charges. I’ll map them all out up front so you can budget properly.

Some consolidation, paying off a HTB loan on the property, a house in a private road with various TP1 issues missing from the docs filed at Land Registry, Overage rights on the communal land we own that nobody knew about.
